E3 2015: Shenmue III Crowdfunding Announced

Last night at Sony's E3 press conference was full of suprises but the biggest one was the crowdfunding campaign to bring Shenmue III to PC & PS4.  There had been a few rumours flying around the internet for the best few days regarding this announcement and everyone just pushed them to one side.

Well they were wrong.  Shenmue III is happening and it is going to be the true sequel to the first two.  So if you are passionate about seeing the retuen of Shenmue, head over to Kickstarter and back the project.  It will be directed by Yu Suzuki and over at Kick Starter he explains he reasons for doing it this way;

Since the release of Shenmue 2, now 14 years ago, I have been greeted by the passionate outpouring of dedicated fans and Shenmue community members wherever I go. They all want to know one thing: "When will Shenmue 3 be coming out?" With the advent of games using Kickstarter during these past few years, the new and now frequent demand from the fans has been, “Do a Kickstarter for Shenmue 3!”

If Shenmue 3 was going to get made, I wanted to make it with the fans. Through Kickstarter, I knew that could happen. Together, with Shenmue fans everywhere, I knew we could build the game that the series deserves.
So do our content editor a favour and head over to Kickstarter now!  As it stands it has reached $1,718,570 of its $2,000,000 goal with 31 days to go.  Honestly, I think it will reach it before then

  1. That 2 million pledge thing was a joke, they should have made it 5-10 million just to make it believable! Oh well, guess the plan always was for Sony to chip in the dough after seeing the number of people that wanted this.

  2. It is fair to say Sony knew people wanted this but just wanted to double check. Plus with this kickstarter the fans can get their name in the credits
